Business Talent (Migrant) (subclass 132) visa
This visa allows you to:
- Establish a new or existing business in Australia.
- Travel in and out of Australia multiple times.
- Study in Australia.
- Have your family accompany you to Australia; they will have the same entitlements as you.
- Live and work in Australia on a permanent basis.
This visa is available by invitations only. Before being invited to apply you must submit an Expression of Interest through skill select
Business Talent (Migrant) (subclass 132) visa has two streams.
- The Significant Business History stream relevant for affluent owners or part owners of a business who want to have a major management role in a new or existing business in Australia.
- The Venture Capital Entrepreneur stream is applicable for people who have sourced venture capital funding from a member of the Australian Venture Capital Association Limited (AVCAL).
Visa Requirements
You might be able to get this visa if you are nominated by a state or territory government agency and are invited to apply by the minister.
You must also either:
- have net business and personal assets of at least AUD1.5 million, and net assets of at least AUD 400 000 (in a qualifying business) in at least two of the four fiscal years immediately before you are invited to apply and an annual business turnover of at least AUD 3 million if you intend to apply for the visa in the Significant Business History stream, or
- have obtained at least AUD1 million in venture capital funding to start the commercialisation and development of a high-value business idea in Australia if you intend to apply for the visa in the Venture Capital Entrepreneur stream.
Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) (subclass 188) visa
Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) (subclass 188) visa has five main streams:
- Business Innovation Stream– is for people who want to own and manage a new or existing business in Australia.
- Investor Stream– is for people who want to make a designated investment in an Australian state or territory and want to maintain business and investment activity in Australia after the original investment has matured.
- Significant Investor Stream– is for people who are willing to invest at least AUD5million into complying investments in Australia and want to maintain business and investment activity in Australia after the original investment has matured.
- Premium Investor Stream– for people who are willing to invest at least AUD15million into complying premium investments in Australia and want to maintain business and investment activity in Australia. Applicants must be nominated by Austrade on behalf of the Australian government.
- Entrepreneur Stream– for people who have a funding agreement with a third party to carry out entrepreneurial activities.
Other than the above main streams, there are two additional extension streams available:
- Business Innovation Extension Stream
- Significant Investor Extension Stream
Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) (subclass 888) Visa
The Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888) is the second stage of the Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188). You can apply for it after you have fulfilled the requirements of your provisional visa.
The visa has four streams:
- The Business Innovation stream is for people who continue to own and manage a business in Australia
- The Investor stream is for people who want to maintain business and/or investment activity in Australia after the designated investment has matured.
- The Significant Investor stream is for people who are willing to maintain business and investment activity in Australia after the original complying investment has matured
- The Premium Investor Stream is for people who are willing to maintain investment activity in Australia after the original complying investment has matured
